How do I edit the audio track of a video file?

I need to change the volume of the audio track in an MKV file.

In general, we do not support the idea of loading video files into the sound editor. Any editing would cause audio and video to be out of sync. We recommend splitting the video file into its components - audio, video, subtitles. After editing the individual components you will be able to merge them again.
